About Thumb Cuffs
Thumb cuffs are locking restrains like handcuffs, but used on a person's thumbs. At a first glance, you might be thinking why would anyone want to use a small thumb cuff instead of handcuffs, or how could it be better restraining someone. In fact, thumb cuffs have some good advantages:
Thumb Cuffs are Small and Portable Handcuffs are bulky and not easy to keep in your pocket. A thumb cuff is easily slipped into your pocket and carried with you. Police like them because they can carry multiple thumb cuffs with them.
Hands are Restrained Tighter With handcuffs, a person still has enough slack to pick the lock if they know how or have a hidden key. Thumb cuffs are much harder to escape from since the hands can not really move, pickup objects, and reach the keyhole when the thumbs are locked together.

Thumb cuffs can also be used on a person's toes as toe cuffs to immobilize them. Thumb cuffs should be used with caution since there is an increased risk of injury from restricted movement.
